Outreach
ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ received a $2 million grant from the Mellon Foundation to support community engagement through the arts. The grant’s intended long-term outcomes include strengthening ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s partnerships with community arts and cultural organizations in Columbus, bolstering a cross-sector career support system for arts students and visual and performing artists in central Ohio, and increasing opportunities for engagement with the arts at all five of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµâ€™s campuses.

A group of ten ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Marion students, who were recently part of the university’s Second-Year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) trip to Washington D.C. over spring break, found more than history and culture on their trip, they created bonds that will last throughout college and beyond.

A group of freshmen and sophomores in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Marion’s education 5101 teaching and learning with drama course, benefitted from a recent demonstration of puppeteering from professional puppeteer and actor Joe Kovacs. Kovacs, who has a lifelong career in puppeteering and is most famous for his work with the Jim Henson Company presented dozens of hand puppets, marionettes, and shadow puppets during a recent class session.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ – The Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry (UR&CI) will host the 29th annual Richard J. and Marth D. Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. There will be more than 220 presentations from senior undergraduate researchers. They will receive scored reviews from three separate faculty or alumni reviewers.

After a short stint at a private university in the south, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ Marion junior biology major and Marion, Ohio native Kiersten Dailey has set big goals for her educational journey and future career as a doctor. According to Dailey, the campus has given her all the tools and support she needs to achieve her goals.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµ announced today that the university is extending the deadline for students and families to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) until Friday, March 15 – a month later than the previous Feb. 15 deadline.
