Thanks to the hard work and dedication of a local community committee, ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ at Marion is pleased to announce that the $250,000 fundraising goal has been met and the campus gymnasium in the Alber Student Center, will be named the Greg Swepston Gymnasium in honor of the beloved Marion resident, coach, mentor and former major league baseball scout.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ at Marion awarded their 2024 Outstanding Staff Award to Senior Registration and Records Coordinator, Amy Erickson during their annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Monday, August 5 at noon in Maynard Hall’s Guthery Community Room.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion Assistant Professor of Reading Education, Julia Hagge and a team of researchers recently received a $59,000 research grant funded for the upcoming year by The Battelle Engineering, Technology and Human Affairs (BETHA) Endowment, for the research titled, Leveraging Technology to Accelerate Generation and Translation of Evidence-Based Practices in Education.

A group of 80 middle and high school students from across central and north central Ohio descended on the Marion campus June 10-14, 2024, to be part of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion’s annual high school STEM camp, high school and middle school engineering camps.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion Professional Practice Assistant Professor of Integrated Systems Engineering, Chandika Annasiwatta recently received an Undergraduate Research Access Innovation Seed Grant from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in the amount of $9,640.

Even the name for it came from the 19th century and doesn’t really reflect the nature of trade on this historic route, says Amanda Respess, an assistant professor of premodern world history who specializes in the Silk Road at ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ University.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Renee Bouley and Associate Professor of Molecular Genetics, Ruben Petreaca recently received an Undergraduate Research Access Innovation Seed Grant from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in the amount of $10,000 for their research of evolution driven purifying detection in cancer cells.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion Assistant Professor of Practice, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nima Mansouri recently received an Undergraduate Research Access Innovation Seed Grant from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in the amount of $9,980.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ Marion Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Golrokh Mirzaei recently received an Undergraduate Research Access Innovation Seed Grant from ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ in the amount of $9,960.
