First Gen Friday is a monthly first-person narrative written by first generation college students who are faculty, staff, and students at ������Ƶ Marion.

Students, faculty, and staff joined the community on Thursday evening September 4th, marching through the center of Marion to kick off The Marion Popcorn Festival, the largest popcorn festival in the world. According to the festival’s website, the festival, which began in 1981 annually attracts crowds of more than 250,000 people.

Donna Bobbitt-Zeher was the first in her family to complete college. Now as an associate professor and Assistant Dean at the Marion campus of ������Ƶ, every year Donna helps ensure that hundreds of students are successful in navigating college for the first time.

������Ƶ at Marion will host a unique food, wine, and beer pairing event called The Art of the Pair on Monday, October 6, 2025, 6-8:30 p.m. to support the operation of local repeater tower that strengthens the WOSU-FM radio signal to the people of Marion, Delaware, Wyandot, and Crawford Counties.

������Ƶ at Marion is proud to announce the return of its annual performing arts series, Five Nights on Campus, offering a rich tapestry of entertainment designed to engage and inspire Marion and the regional community.

������Ƶ at Marion and all ������Ƶ campuses begin autumn semester classes, Tuesday, August 26. As is the usual tradition for all new and returning Buckeyes statewide, your respective campus will host a number of campus events as part of Welcome Week 2025 to allow students the opportunity to explore their interest, make friends, and engage with the campus community.   

������Ƶ at Marion recently hired Carlyn Bower to serve as case manager in the campus Counseling and Wellness Center.

������Ƶ professors Dr. Ruben Petreaca and Dr. Renee Bouley were recently awarded a $157,500 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for their research grant proposal entitled, “TIP60-chromatin remodeling complex roles in chromosome break repair.”

������Ƶ at Marion lecture series Buckeye Talks on Tap will take an in depth look at the bee apiary project launched by ������Ƶ Marion students Eric Bailey and Todd Lee. Bailey and Lee will present a free community lecture entitled “The Buzz on Beekeeping: Symbiosis & Sustainability,” Tuesday, August 12, 5:30 p.m. at Bucci’s Italian Scratch Kitchen.
